ever since i had the blue cheese & pear burger from relish by wild rocket, i couldn't stop thinking about it. even after a second trip there (which i've yet to blog abt), i *still* find myself thinking about it. and since i couldn't afford their burgers anymore (its 17 bucks!) i had to make it myself, and i'm so glad i did. i only wish i made it earlier coz it tasted SO GOOD.

Canelé Pâtisserie : Dessert Outing
Canelé Pâtisserie : Dessert Outing
5 months. its been that long since we last had a proper dessert outing. sure, we all go out in groups of 2-3s all the time but really, nothing beats seeing familiar faces all at the same time, laughing, joking, eating, chatting. the warmth, the fun, its unsurpassed. i was really excited over this outing coz its been so long since we had a proper outing, and 2ndly, it was canele. sure, i've been there. but at least i was confident of their cakes, i know i won't be disappointed, and i wasn't. in fact i was really keen to try their collection 2009.

Japchae
잡채 Japchae
korean stir-fried glass noodles. previously when i had it 3 times, once at a korean friend's place and twice in restaurants, i didn't like it. but my homecooked version didn't taste half as bad! maybe i was generous with the ingredients, and the sesame oil. definitely making this again, if only the 당면 (dang myeon) isn't so expensive :( i got the 500g packet for 8 bucks! in korea this is served more as a side dish but its also sufficient enough to eat it on its on as a meal. i'm also in a mood for korean food so i forsee i'll be dishing out 닭갈비 (dakgalbi), 자장면 (jajang myeon), 삼계탕 (samgyetang) & 된장 찌개 (doenjang jjigae) in no time! that should be enough to feed my hungry-for-anything-korean soul for awhile :D

Blueberry Milkshake
Blueberry Milkshake
or should i call them shooters? :p when i saw this in wiffygal's blog, i KNEW i had to make it. from the consistency to the blueberry bits to the pillowy marshmallows and right down to the nice purplish hue, everything about the shake looked so enticing. i hear it calling out to me already. and with so many leftover egg yolks from a recent macaron order, i made yet another batch of vanilla bean ice cream so its perfect timing to make a delicious shake with it. technically with only 2 ingredients, its super duper easy, and yum as well! love the marshmallows in it, and thx wiffy for sharing the recipe ;)

Irish Beef Stew
Irish Beef Stew
as i ate this yum yet unpretentious bowl of beef stew, my heart literally wept. why? coz this is by far the most expensive homecooked meal, yet! as if the addition of guinness stout & red wine wasn't expensive enough, absent-minded me actually left that grocery bag on the bus, the one with the stout & the little bottle of red wine, OF ALL BAGS!! can u imagine that? that bag alone actually cost me about 20 bucks, coz i had other stuff inside, like the tarragon i intended to make hollandaise sauce with *ROAR* so i went out buying the stout & red wine AGAIN, therefore this meal ended up costing me about 30 bucks in total!

1 Caramel : Patisserie. Cafe. Atelier
1 Caramel : Patisserie. Cafe. Atelier
sweets in the midweek, at a new patisserie downtown. one that reminds a little of nectarie, and a little of twelve+one. girly, whimsical yet elaborate at the same time. the place is quite small to begin with, some styrofoam cake displays and chiller shelves that go all the way to the ceiling, housing a huge variety of cakes plus rows & cartons of whipping cream complete the look. i can only describe, coz it was close to impossible of taking good shots of the array of cakes IN chillers.

My Obsession With French Macarons
it must hv been close to 3 years since i first started making macarons and i think i've come a long way *chuckles* i experimented with countless flavors, including some really quirky ones like pandan & durian...ewww. i think my personal favorites and the best i've made must be lychee rose & caramel fleur de sel, tho' of coz my customers and friends who tried may beg to differ :D
good 2b able to do something, and then do it well. its definitely a sense of achievement for me, and a nice feeling when i feel i'm synonymous with the macarons i make. whenever i meet ppl at outings and they go "oh, so you're that macaron girl" - seriously, that never fail to put a smile on my face :)
cheers to more macaron making, and flavor experimenting!

PS. Cafe @ Harding
not too long ago, i went to ps. cafe. despite its bad reviews screaming "lousy food, not worth the price" or "standard dropped", it didn't stop me from going. i'm like that i guess. when curiosity strikes, its hard to ignore.
