was invited to try out forlino's valentine's day's menu and i thought this invitation came at the right time. despite the fact that my last visit to forlino was a disaster (we had the set lunch), i was told that their ala carte menu is really not too bad so i was game to give it another go. i'm so glad i did. we had the 6-course valentine's day dinner menu priced at $128++ per person.

Pineapple Tarts, Made With Love
met up with my good friend elaine over dinner last weekend and she brought along some pineapple tarts to share with us. they were so good i bought two tubs from her the following day. each morsel is just so addictive to eat - fresh, buttery and not cloyingly sweet. i couldn't stop popping them into my mouth and it totally came as a surprise consider i don't even like pineapple tarts that much in the first place. most importantly i can really feel her love, the care and attention taken to mold each tart into uniformed size. i'm not saying this coz she's my friend. i say that coz i can really feel it.

Wedding Favors For Edwin & Janice
blogger edwin approached me to make macarons for his wedding. 80 bags of these in assorted flavors of macha, rose, cafe, caramel fleur de sel & feuillitine chocolate and i was extremely satisfied with how they look. he provided the stickers and i think they blended in really well with the macarons and the cream ribbons. for a moment i was kinda worried when edwin said he would provide the stickers. what if they were cartoonish & in neon colors? guess my worries were unfounded :p

Pierre Hermé's Macarons Part II & Laduree's Too!
i am one lucky girl. i so am. barely two weeks into trying macarons from pierre hermé tokyo which the gf vickii so generously shared them with me, i received a msg in my facebook inbox from another gf, daphne. she went on her honeymoon to europe and got me macarons from pierre hermé paris and some from ladurée as well! i tell ya, ecstasy is an understatement. when she told me she got me a 12-pc box, i literally went over the moon!

Mango Panna Cotta Verrines
vanilla bean yogurt panna cotta, mango gelee, mango mousse, mango coulis & torched mango cubes - a prelude to making more complex and multi-component desserts. after months of making just macarons, i'm beginning to miss french patisserie.
