Pasir Ris Park

CNY is finally over and i'm totally thankful for that. since many many years ago i've stopped liking CNY coz i think its really redundant, boring and there's just too much work, resources & money involved. i especially hate to see my parents, grandma & in-laws work so hard during this period. plus i don't spring clean, bake CNY goodies (never did like them anyway) nor do much visitation therefore its basically meaningless to me. so yes thank god its finally over and we can now get back to our daily lives. i'm looking forward to buying the yusheng from yan ting, st. regis in early feb though!

anyway hubby and i checked out pasir ris park last week. he told me "there are horses that you can see & touch" so that basically stirred up my curiousity quite abit. so off we went, and we had simple hawker fare @ the food court in tampines giant coz there's free parking. i like their roasted duck rice, its really good!

St. Regis Hotel

ok i know i'm really slow...i must be like the last one to blog about this. but with committments and a bad cold for the whole week, the last thing i wanna do is to blog. i just can't seem to get enough rest! anyway earlier this month i was invited by flickr for a CNY food tasting event @ yan ting restaurant, st. regis. naturally, i was elated and was definitely very excited. this is the first time i've been invited to attend food tasting session, and what more by flickr!! plus i've been dying to go to the very posh st. regis hotel, so its like a double bonus for me really.

i arrived early (as usual) so i went around taking pics of the place. most didn't turn out well tho'.

Obolo Patisserie

Obolo Patisserie

i've had high hopes on obolo's cakes & desserts even before my 1st visit there. that's becoz i own the crave cheesecake book written by the owners mac & june. i tried a few recipes from the book and they ALL turned out great, so i've always concluded that their desserts not only look good, but taste good as well. even tho' there were hits & misses during my 1st visit at the degustation session (aka. LIC outing), this did not prevent me from wanting to visit a 2nd time. i hv alot of respect for mac & june coz i think their ideas are very original and in my opinion really good in pairing the unimaginable flavors together. i always look forward to their new creations like the x'mas, CNY or valentine day ones. just browsing the catalog itself makes me real happy!

and so happened that claire & i went to IKEA tampines that day and she suggested grabbing something from obolo to have them at IKEA after our dinner, could i say no?? obviously not! from wanting to "grab a macaron or two" to a "full blown affair", we left the shop happily clading 3 large bags & boxes containing 4 macarons, le cassis, dome amore, noisette & 2 verrines LOL. total bill came up to about $37 (after 15% off for OCBC card holders) which is not very expensive in my opinion.

Mykii

Mykii

got to know about this place after reading sihan's entry on it. at 1st it didn't leave much impression since the first word i read at the start of her entry was 'spa' and i thought it's really one lol! turned out that its actually a greek/mediterranian-inspired restaurant & cafe. mykii, prounounced as 'mee-kai', is derived from two words - mykonos (a greek island) and 'sky' for the ultimate chillout, as described on their website.

Brunch @ Choupinette

Choupinette

the few of us met on sunday morning for brunch & desserts @ choupinette but this will just be a pictures-only entry and not much reviews since i didn't get to try most of the food. i only had my eggs royale, sampled fen & yuan's egg benedict, burger & claire's quiche lorraine. for the desserts, i only had 1 mouthful of the extremely lousy macarons (probably one of the worst i've ever tasted, with the now-defunct twelve+one's aside).
